Legal warranty policy

This English text is provided for convenience. The French version is the legally binding one, and French law applies.
Legal warranty of conformity
In accordance with Articles L.217-3 to L.217-17 of the French Consumer Code, the Seller must deliver goods that conform to the contract and is liable for any lack of conformity existing at the time of delivery.
Duration
2 years from delivery of the goods.
The Customer may choose between:
- Repair of the goods
- Replacement of the goods
Subject to the cost conditions set out in Article L.217-12.
If repair and replacement are both impossible, the Customer may:
- Obtain a reduction in the price
- Obtain termination of the sale
For second-hand goods, the legal warranty of conformity also lasts 2 years. During the 24 months following delivery, the Customer does not have to prove that the lack of conformity existed.
Legal warranty against hidden defects
In accordance with Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, the Seller is liable for hidden defects in the item sold which:
- Make it unfit for its intended use
- Or so impair that use that the buyer would not have bought it, or would have paid a lower price, had they known
Duration
2 years from discovery of the defect.
The Customer may choose between:
- Termination of the sale
- A reduction in the price
In accordance with Article 1644 of the French Civil Code.
Making a warranty claim
To make a claim under a legal warranty, contact our customer service:
Please include with your request:
- Your order number
- A precise description of the defect
- Photographs or videos if possible
- A copy of the invoice
We will tell you how to proceed with returning the product.
Return costs relating to legal warranty claims are covered entirely by us.
Commercial warranty
The legal warranties apply regardless of any commercial warranty (manufacturer's warranty) that may be granted in addition. Such a commercial warranty never replaces the legal warranties.
Statutory notices
The following notices are required by French law. They are translated here for information; the French wording is the official one.
“Consumers have two years from delivery of the goods to enforce the legal warranty of conformity if a lack of conformity appears. During that period, consumers only have to establish that the lack of conformity exists, not the date on which it appeared.”
“The legal warranty of conformity requires the trader, where applicable, to provide all updates necessary to keep the goods in conformity.”
“The legal warranty of conformity entitles consumers to repair or replacement of the goods within thirty days of their request, free of charge and without major inconvenience to them.”
“If the goods are repaired under the legal warranty of conformity, consumers benefit from a six-month extension of the original warranty.”
“If consumers ask for the goods to be repaired but the seller insists on replacement, the legal warranty of conformity is renewed for a period of two years from the date of replacement.”
“Consumers may obtain a reduction of the purchase price and keep the goods, or terminate the contract and be refunded in full against return of the goods, if: 1° the trader refuses to repair or replace the goods; 2° repair or replacement takes place after thirty days; 3° repair or replacement causes major inconvenience to the consumer; 4° the lack of conformity persists despite the attempt to bring the goods into conformity.”
“Consumers are also entitled to a reduction in the price of the goods or to termination of the contract where the lack of conformity is sufficiently serious.”
“Consumers are not entitled to termination of the sale where the lack of conformity is minor.”
“Any period during which the goods are out of use for repair or replacement suspends the remaining warranty period.”
“The rights referred to above arise from Articles L.217-1 to L.217-32 of the French Consumer Code.”
“A seller who obstructs the enforcement of the legal warranty of conformity in bad faith is liable to a civil fine of up to €300,000 or 10% of average annual turnover.”
“Consumers also benefit from the legal warranty against hidden defects under Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, for two years from discovery of the defect.”
