Back up your photos and videos in just a few minutes, on iPhone and Android alike.
Before you begin
Make sure you have everything to hand:
- Your PixiSafe key.
- Your phone: iPhone (iOS 17 or later) or a recent Android smartphone with USB support.
- For iPhone 14 and earlier (Lightning port), the Lightning adapter offered as an option at checkout.
No account or subscription to create: your files stay only on your key, with no cloud.
1. Install the PixiSafe app
The companion app is available on the stores:
- On iPhone: go to the App Store and search for “PixiSafe”.
- On Android: go to the Google Play Store and search for “PixiSafe”.
Download and open the app: it then guides you step by step.
2. Back up on iPhone (iOS)
- 1Plug the PixiSafe key into the USB-C port of your iPhone (iPhone 15 and later). For an iPhone with a Lightning port (iPhone 14 and earlier), use the Lightning adapter.
- 2Open the PixiSafe app.
- 3When the iPhone asks, allow access to your photos and videos (Settings > choose “All Photos” for a complete backup).
- 4Select your PixiSafe key, then start the backup. Leave the key plugged in until it's finished.
- 5Done! Next time, the key is recognised automatically and only new files are copied.
3. Back up on Android
- 1Plug the PixiSafe key into the USB-C port of your Android phone (USB OTG connection, supported by most recent models).
- 2Open the PixiSafe app.
- 3Allow access to your photos and videos when the app asks.
- 4Select your PixiSafe key, then start the backup. Leave the key plugged in until it's finished.
- 5Done! On later backups, only new files are added.
Read your files back on a computer
Your files are sorted on the key by year and month. Simply plug the key into a PC or a Mac: the photos and videos are readable directly, with no software to install.
Good practice: keep a second copy
Only delete photos and videos from your phone after checking that they are safely on the key. For maximum safety, always keep your data in two different places — for example on the key and on your PC/Mac.
